Biodive

Biodive, real name Terrence Pearce is Cape Town-based DJ, producer and promoter. Terrence started his DJ career in the early 2000s as a turntablist having won his then hometown’s DJ Battle of the Year twice. Then in the mid-2000s made the move to Cape Town to pursue a love for electronic music. Initially, being part of the Untamed Youth party crew playing as a resident, Terrence found his way to future collaborator Yannick Ilunga aka Petite Noir through mutual friend, Spoek Mathambo. They went on to form the popular electronic band Popskarr up until 2010 when they parted ways.

 

Terrence then went on to form the Private Life collective - a weekly party at The Waiting Room that ran for almost 8 years hosting artists like Tama Sumo, Lakuti, Antal, Jayda G, Fred P and more. During this period he used his birth name as a production and DJ alias with releases on Futureboogie, FINA, Kolour, Whiskey Disco, Wolf Music and more. From there he and some friends formed the NTSC crew which served as the perfect vehicle for more of his club-focused sounds and for his latest production project, Biodive. Biodive’s initial debut release “40 Now” came out on Seb Wildblood’s Church label in mid-2019 with great support from across the world. From there he released on the new and now fairly well-established COYMIX label for their debut release with an EP entitled ‘COY001’. Then came another debut label release from one of the minds of Four Heads, called P.istol with his ‘Limpet Minds’ EP including a heavy-hitting club-ready remix from Montréal-based Priori. Currently, his release schedule includes an EP on Craigie Knowes as well as an EP and remix for Gestalt.
